I have a 1999 Nissan Patrol (it's a Nissan SUV). It's a 4.5L Fuel Injection engine. It's a very good car and I've taken good care of it.

Now it currently has the stock exhaust system and pipes of 2.5in and I would like to install aftermarket exhausts, all from the manifold to the tip exhaust including all the pipes, to 3 inches wide. I'm not planning on installing brands like MagnaFlo for example, no I'm installing regular garage made metal pipes.

I was told that these ones are wider and will produce more sound and let the engine relax, also performance and petrol consumption will increase.

Are there any side-effects to this? I mean will it increase the engine heat or affect the car in any way? Thanks
